Finders Keepers – Found Image Collaging with The Jealous Curator

Description of class:

Collage: noun; verb
A technique of composing a work of art by pasting on a single surface various materials not normally associated with one another. Finders Keepers is all about that and you may just go from being a workshopaholic to a collagoholic! So before you come, sort through a collection of found paper & objects, piles of thread & buttons… and with a full morning, and a lot of glue, turn all of these bits & pieces into a shiny new piece of art!

Materials Needed:
Please bring any bits of paper, images, fabric, buttons etc, that means something to you and you would like to include in your piece.  Otherwise all materials will be provided.

Teacher Bio:
Danielle Krysa (aka The Jealous Curator)

Danielle has a BFA in Visual Arts, and a post-grad in Design. She has worked for 15 years as a designer and creative director, but has never stopped loving fine art. In 2009, after years of looking at beautiful contemporary art and thinking “Damn, I wish I thought of that”, she finally decided to say it out loud, and just like that, her art blog,The Jealous Curator was born! Her curation went from the blogosphere to actual gallery walls in 2011 with shows opening in Washington DC, and Vancouver. She is currently curating a new show for 2013; is hosting a series of art workshops across North America; and, she has just started working on her first book, to be published by Chronicle Books in the Spring of 2014.
